Their innate connection to humans has made
dolphins one of the most fascinating sea creatures. Most often seen
in the West of Mauritius and in groups of four or five, the dolphins
are more than happy to perform their ballet in the water, as they
ride alongside the boat! We have seen more than 30 once on a catamaran
trip this year in May 2004. Tip:
it seems there are more dolphins in this area during autumn and
winter - May to August.

Own lunch at Curepipe or at Varangue sur Morne

placed to the convenience of the public.
Further down the road is 'La Roche qui pleure',
('The Weeping Rock') and 'Le Souffleur', where crashing waves 'whistle'
as they rush into the gaps of the cliffs.
On your way back to Ocean Villas, you
may stop at the Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens, which is known
to naturalists throughout the world for their large collection of
indigenous and exotic plants, including the giant Victoria Amazonica
Waterlilies and many species of palm trees. Of particular interest
the talipot palm which is said to flower once every 60 years and
thereafter dies - our natural drama queen ! Visit L'Aventure du
Sucre (previously sugar cane factory turned into museum) at Beau
